Junta Airstrike Kills Workshop Owner’s Mother and Employee in Ann

The mother of a car workshop owner and a mechanic were killed in a military junta airstrike in Ann Township on August 8, according to an announcement by the Arakan Army (AA) today.

The attack occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. when a junta jet fighter dropped two bombs on Ta Lai Taung village.

The targeted bombs directly hit a family-owned car repair shop, completely destroying both the workshop building and the adjacent family home.

The AA identified the deceased as 67-year-old Daw Ma Lay Ngay (the mother of workshop owner Ko Aung Paing) and 23-year-old Maung Maung Nyan (a workshop employee). Both individuals died instantly at the scene.

The bombing also left three others injured, including Ko Aung Paing’s wife, his daughter, and another worker identified as Maung Htun Htun Win. Additionally, five vehicles parked inside the workshop were severely damaged.

In its statement, the AA condemned the military commission, labeling the incident an intentional night attack on innocent civilians.
