The military junta carried out an airstrike on Kyeintali Town in Gwa Township, Arakan State, dropping two bombs and destroying several residential homes.

After 10:00 PM on October 19, a junta jet fighter dropped two bombs near the town’s main roundabout, destroying multiple homes, according to local residents.

“As few residents remain in town, there were no civilian casualties or deaths,” a local man from Gwa Township told DMG. “However, many residential homes were destroyed.”

The junta’s continued airstrikes across Gwa Township have caused rising civilian casualties and heightened fear among local residents.

Kyeintali Town has been repeatedly targeted by regime airstrikes, leaving civilians without safe places to shelter, residents said.

“Even though civilians are not participating in the fighting, we are being bombed from the air,” said a female resident of Gwa Township. “When Kyeintali residents flee to safer areas, junta forces bomb empty houses. These continuous air raids are purely malicious acts.”

In recent days, the military junta has intensified airstrikes across areas controlled by the Arakan Army (AA), including Kyauktaw, Gwa, Thandwe, Mrauk-U and Paletwa townships, causing a sharp rise in civilian casualties.

On September 26, junta aircraft bombed Kyeintali Town and a Buddhist monastery in Yakyaw Village, Gwa Township, injuring two civilians.
