Intense battles erupted in Sittwe as AA fighters target junta headquarters

Heavy artillery exchanges are reported in Sittwe of Rakhine State on 10 April as the Arakan Army (AA) fighters targeted key Myanmar military installations including the Sittwe police battalion and Dakasa regional military headquarters.

A local military source confirmed that heavy weapons were engaged in shelling by the AA fighters targeting multiple fortified locations that invited a reciprocal response from the junta forces and concerned police units.

"We heard that two police battalions and Dakasa headquarters were hit by the shelling. The army personnel and police battalions also fired back," added the source.

The exchange of fire continued till the morning of 10 April. In addition to the ground fighting, the junta forces also utilized drones to target the villages located on the Sittwe-Ponnagyun border. The AA fighters targeted the main bases of police battalion 12, police battalion 36, and the Dakasa regional headquarters, while the military commission retaliates with drone strikes on the villages and areas bordering Sittwe and Ponnagyun.

The exchange of fire continues as the military outposts in Sittwe also came under attack.
