IDP population reaches 50,000 in Kyaukphyu due to fighting

Due to the intense fighting, there are currently 50,000 IDPs in Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine (Arakan) State.


The number of IDPs in Kyaukphyu Township, the site of major Chinese projects, has reached 50,000 during the six months from February to August,  and it's probable that this figure will rise, according to IDP aid workers.


The number of IDPs in Kyaukphyu Township has increased to over 50,000, up from just 20,000 during the four months between February and June.


Narinjara News was informed by a local woman that the terrorist army's naval vessels, which have been stationed at sea in the coastal regions of Kyaukphyu Township, have been using machine guns and artillery shells to fire at the villages, where conflict breaks out every day, causing numerous residents to flee.
