Global diaspora protests target Thai embassies over normalization with Myanmar regime

Myanmar nationals and international supporters staged coordinated demonstrations outside Royal Thai Embassies across six countries on Wednesday.

The global campaign demands that the Thai government halt diplomatic engagement with Myanmar’s regime leader Min Aung Hlaing and cease forced deportations of refugees.

Demonstrators delivered open letters to Thai diplomatic missions in Tokyo, London, Washington D.C., Canberra, Seoul, and Paris. The letters warned that high-level bilateral engagement grants political legitimacy to a military regime that seized power in a 2021 coup.
