Fuel Shortages Fail to Stop Deadly Junta Airstrikes on Civilians

Despite severe shortages of fuel, including aviation fuel, in Myanmar brought on by the war in the Middle East, the regime continues its campaign of aerial attacks on civilian targets, including internally displaced persons (IDP) camps, schools and religious sites, resulting in the deaths of dozens of civilians in the past few days.

On Friday, the regime conducted an airstrike on a monastery sheltering IDPs in Katha town, Sagaing Region, killing dozens of people including monks.

Clashes restarted in the town five days ago as the Kachin Independence Army and its resistance allies, who have captured most of the town, continued to attack the remaining regime positions there.
