Four more people, including a child, have died following Myanmar military bombardments on residential areas in Rakhine State.
The casualties, which occurred between June 19 and 28, include 10-year-old Maung Htet Myat Thu and 45-year-old U Wai Ya Min from Ye Kyaw village in Gwa Township.
The other two victims were 65-year-old U Hla Aung Kyaw and 62-year-old Daw Ma Aye Hla from Kyauktaw Township.
Medical records show that Maung Htet Myat Thu passed away on June 28 while undergoing emergency treatment for severe injuries, which required the amputation of his right arm and right thigh.
U Wai Ya Min died from his injuries on June 26 at around 5:00 PM. In Kyauktaw Township, U Hla Aung Kyaw died on June 24, and Daw Ma Aye Hla succumbed to her injuries on June 19 while hospitalized.
"We strongly condemn the military regime's actions for bombing innocent children like this," a Gwa Township resident stated. "We are also very saddened for the child who died."
At around 3:00 p.m. on June 26, a military fighter jet dropped a 500-pound bomb and a 300-pound bomb on a school in Ye Kyaw village, located in Gwa Township.
The attack killed Maung Htet Myat Thu and U Wai Ya Min, and injured three others. Among the injured receiving treatment from this strike on Ye Kyaw village are 35-year-old U San Min, 75-year-old U Phoe Ni, and 13-year-old Ma Su Myat Mon.
Similar military airstrikes have caused civilian casualties in Kyauktaw Township, bringing the total death toll from recent bombings there to 10 people.
U Hla Aung Kyaw, a resident of Ywa Ma Ward, died at 9:00 p.m. on June 24 while being treated for his injuries. Additionally, 62-year-old Daw Ma Aye Hla from Paik He Ward died at 7:00 p.m. on June 19 while receiving medical care for severe injuries.
These casualties followed an intense aerial assault on June 17, when the Myanmar Air Force used four fighter jets to bomb civilian neighborhoods and the Lanmadaw Village Market Square in Kyauktaw Township for nearly an hour.
Starting at 3:00 p.m., the hour-long bombardment killed 10 civilians, including a four-year-old child, and wounded at least 17 others, including several women.
The Myanmar military faces widespread condemnation for targeting villages, neighborhoods, and towns populated by Rakhine civilians, a move heavily criticized as retaliation for severe losses suffered during ongoing ground battles with the Arakan Army (AA).
