Fleeing Civilians Bombed as Myanmar Junta Scorches Mandalay-Sagaing River Crossings

Myanmar junta troops have tightened their grip on both sides of the Irrawaddy River separating Sagaing and Mandalay after recapturing Singu town from the People’s Defense Force (PDF) in northern Mandalay, with fleeing civilians hit by airstrikes, locals said.

The regime claimed its forces advanced just north of Singu on Monday morning to retake the Yadanar Thein Kha Bridge, which links Mandalay Region to Kyauk Myaung town in Sagaing.

The PDF reportedly dynamited sections of the bridge in late October to prevent regime troops advancing from the Sagaing side to Singu.
