Two separate fires have been reported in the Rohingya Muslim refugee camp No. 4 and another camp, Kutu Palong, located in the Madhurchhara area of the Rajapalaung constituency, Okiya township, Cox's Bazar district, Bangladesh, according to TTN.
The blaze completely destroyed the entire healthcare facility situated in D-block of refugee camp No. 4, causing extensive damage.
A fire started at approximately 5 am on Friday and was contained by 7:30 am after efforts from firefighters and nearby residents who worked for about two and a half hours, as reported by TTN.
There were no injuries in the fire; however, the health center was entirely demolished, and valuable medical equipment was also affected by the flames.
The health center, known as the ‘Obat Health Post,’ was founded in 2017 by Obat Helpers USA, a charity organization dedicated to assisting Muslim refugees escaping from northern Rakhine State in Myanmar. It is currently funded by the United States.
=Dr. Mahmudul Hasan Siddique Rashed, the health coordinator for Bangladesh at Obat Helpers NGO, confirmed that the entire health facility was completely destroyed in the unexpected fire.
