⁨Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,477) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.


A total of (32,046) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,924) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,777) remain to be verified.


These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.


According to data collected by AAPP, from February 1, 2021 to September 30, 2026, (173) people in total; (59) women and (114) men, were killed by the junta in Mon State, including (29) children under the age of 18. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them, (86) people were killed by the junta’s artillery, marking the highest cause of death. During the stated period in that region, AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (103) civilians, as a result of junta attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.


On September 22, at approximately 12:00 p.m, junta forces opened fire with heavy weaponry on villages in Kyaikto Township, Mon State. During the attack, a shell exploded in a rubber plantation in Ka Nyin Aing Village. The shrapnel instantly killed Than Soe.
