⁨Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,369) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (31,913) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,806) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,873) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to September 11, 2026, (34) people in total; (12) women and (22) men, were killed by the junta in Tanintharyi Region. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them, (16) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, marking the highest cause of death. During the stated period in Tanintharyi Region, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (44) civilians, as a result of junta attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.

On the morning of September 8, the military column was attacked by mines between Tha Yet Hnit Khwa and Thin Kyun Villages in Thayetchaung Township, Tanintharyi Region. They opened fire with heavy weaponry and firearms. While hiding, Myint Maw from Tha Yet Hnit Khwa Village was killed instantly, due to getting shot.
