Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,160) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
A total of (31,494) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,556) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,910) remain to be verified.
These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to July 14, 2026, the junta killed (29) people in total in Kachin State; (13) women and (16) men. Among these deaths, (22) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes marking the highest cause of death. During the stated period in that region, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (74) civilians, as a result of junta attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.
On January 22, junta forces conducted an aerial bombing on No.3 Ward, Kawng Jar Village, Bhamo Township, Kachin State. A bomb exploded on a house where a funeral was being held and the bomb shrapnel killed at least 22 people. Moreover, many locals were injured.
