Date – 8 June 2026
Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,083) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
A total of (31,121) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,291) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,877) remain to be verified.
These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
Junta forces continue to target buildings and civilians that are not military targets. During the first week of June, the Documentation and Research Department of the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) recorded (32) civilian deaths. Among these attacks, airstrikes targeted Shwe Lin Pin Monastery in Khin-U Township, Sagaing Region, on June 1; a rural hospital in Shwegu Township, Kachin State, on June 4; and Tha Yet Kaung Pin Village in Mahlaing Township, Mandalay Region, on June 5. The airstrikes damaged buildings and killed civilians, including students.
On the other hand, junta forces continue to destroy civilian livelihoods and property. According to reports from the ground, junta forces launched a military offensive into two villages in Myaing Township, Magway Region, killing two local people and setting fire to buildings, burning down more than 70 houses. Such attacks on religious buildings, health facilities, homes, and civilians constitute serious human rights violations against civilians.
