Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,054) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (31,022) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,248) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,874) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from May 1 to 21, 2026, a total of (27) people; (6) women and (21) men, were killed by the junta’s airstrikes across the country, including (7) children under the age of 18. The youngest recorded death was a boy aged five months old. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among the (27) deaths, Chin State records the highest number of fatalities with (8) victims, followed by (7) who were killed in Bago State. During the stated period in that region, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (26) civilians, as a result of junta’s airstrike attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.

On the morning of May 7, a coalition of junta forces and militia, consisting of approximately 150 personnel, launched an offensive into Min Gyo Village and Taung Lel Taw Village in Ngazun Township, Mandalay Region. Junta forces carried out a drone strike targeting local civilians who were fleeing. The resulting bomb shrapnel instantly killed three members of a family from Taung Lel Taw Village—Pyay Thaung, his wife Kyi Shwe, and their son Linn Hsann Oo.
