Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,840) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (30,525) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,814) are currently in detention, (11,575) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to February 26, 2026, (51) people in total; (27) women and (24) men, were killed by the junta in Sagaing Region, including (8) children under the age of 18. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them, (45) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, recording the highest number of deaths.
On February 23, at approximately 7 p.m., junta forces based at the Northwestern Command Headquarters in western Monywa Township, conducted an aerial bombing using paramotors on Shwe Kyaung Kan Village, Myinmu Township, Sagaing Region. The bomb shrapnel from the explosion struck a local oil mill in the village, killing 10 residents, including children.
