Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,635) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (30,203) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,694) are currently in detention, (11,441) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to December 26, 2025, a total of (212) people; (103) women and (109) men, were killed by the junta’s artillery strikes across the country, including (44) children under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among the (212) deaths, Sagaing Region records the highest number of fatalities with (34) victims. (16) were killed in Mon State. During the stated period, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (186) civilians, as a result of junta’s artillery strikes, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.
On December 24, at approximately 12 p.m., Light Infantry Battalion No.(3) (LIB-3) of Division-44, situated in Bilin Township, Mon State, fired heavy weaponry. An artillery shell struck a monastery in Ah Lu Gyi Village, Gon Hnyin Nwei Village Tract, Bilin Township, instantly killing Khaing Thwe Win, Naw Mi Htwe and Chaw, from shrapnel.
