Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,444) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution. 


Since the coup, a total of (29,922) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,607) are currently in detention, (11,328) of whom are serving sentences. 


These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.


According to the data collected by AAPP,  from July 1 to October 31, 2025, the junta killed  (519) people in total across the country; (211) women and (308) men. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among them, there are (119) children under the age of 18, (3) of these were the age of one. Among these deaths, Sagaing Region recorded the highest number of fatalities, totaling (142), followed by (64) in Mandalay Region.  Among the (519) deceased, (338) people were killed by the  junta’s airstrikes, marking the highest cause of death. During the stated period, AAPP has also received information regarding the death of  (555) civilians, as a result of the  junta’s attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.


During the stated period, the junta arrested and continued to detain (47) people in relation to the Spring Revolution across the country: (12) women and (35) men, including (3) children under the age of 18. Among them, (24) people were arrested in Yangon Region, recording the highest number of arrests.
