Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,379) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.


Since the coup, a total of (29,832) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,526) are currently in detention, (11,212) of whom are serving sentences.


These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP).


The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.


According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to October 16, 2025, the junta killed (87) people in total from the education sector across the country; (43) men and (44) women, including (67) children under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified.

Among them, Sagaing Region records the highest number of fatalities, with (35) people killed, followed by (27) in Rakhine. Among the (87) deceased, (74) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, recording the highest number of deaths, followed by (7) people who were killed by the junta’s artillery strikes.


On October 14, at approximately 7 a.m., junta forces conducted an aerial bombing using jet fighter aircraft on Ong Ma Sum Village, Namhsan Township, Shan State, with the bomb shrapnel killing two underage girls.
