Ceasefire Agreement between Tatmadaw and TNLA Announced

The Tatmadaw and TNLA have signed a mutual ceasefire agreement with the mediation of China, according to the TNLA announcement.


The agreement was signed after the ninth meeting of the Tatmadaw delegation was led by Lieutenant General Ko Ko Oo of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) and the TNLA delegation led by Tar Jot Jar in Kunming, China on October 27 and 28. The statement said that after the mutual negotiations and mediation by Mr. Deng Xijun, China’s Special Envoy for Asian Affairs. The TNLA will withdraw from Mogok and Moeik townships within the agreed period, according to announcement.


According to the agreement, the two sides signed an agreement to halt their troops at their respective locations and to cease fire from 12:00 midnight on October 28. The National Defense and Security Council Information Team has been contacted for comment on the news of the ceasefire agreement.
