Captain from 34th Battalion, providing security at polling station in Munaung, allegedly shot dead at close range

A captain from the 34th Battalion, stationed in Kyaukphyu, who was providing security at a polling station for the upcoming junta election in Munaung on Munaung Island in Rakhine State, was allegedly shot and killed at close range.


A local source informed Narinjara that he was shot at approximately 2 a.m. on December 4 and passed away after being taken to Munaung General Hospital.


“The event occurred during the early morning, approximately at 2 a.m. on the 4th of this month. He passed away at approximately 4 am, two hours following his arrival at the hospital. There are reports circulating that two soldiers from the same unit shot each other," he added.


The late captain was said to have been shot during a surprise attack and was struck by a single shot.
