Campaigning for election Phase 3 to begin on January 12

The Union Election Commission has announced that election rallies and campaigns for the townships included in Phase 3 of the multi-party democratic general election can begin from January 12. Election rallies and campaigns will be suspended from 12:00 p.m. on January 23 until the end of the Phase 3 election on the January 25.


Advertisements and posters used for campaigning for Phase 3 of the election must also be removed by 12:00 p.m. on January 23. During the campaign period, the right to write, print and distribute pamphlets, erect advertising signs and vinyl posters, hold public meetings and campaign through the media shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of Section 30(A) of the relevant Hluttaw Election Law and Chapter ( 10) of the Rules. The campaign posters for the election districts Part 1 and Part 2 shall be removed on the last days of the campaign period.


If the campaign advertisements and posters are not removed by the specified time, the Township Election Commission sub-committees shall coordinate with the relevant Yangon City Development Committee or Township Development Committee to remove the advertisements and posters.


If such removal is required, the relevant political party or Hluttaw candidate shall reimburse the cost of the removal work. The election Part 1 was successfully held on December 28, and the election Part 2 will be held on January 11.
