Bomb Attack on Sagaing Immigration Office Leaves 19 Injured

A homemade time bomb exploded at the Sagaing Township Immigration Office on the morning of June 5, 2026, injuring 19 people and causing significant property damage.

According to military junta media reports, the attack occurred at approximately 10:00 AM while civilians were visiting the facility to secure national identification cards. The blast injured six immigration officials and 13 civilians.

All 19 victims were rushed to the Sagaing City Public Hospital, where they are currently undergoing medical treatment. The explosion also caused extensive damage to the office building and destroyed critical administrative documents.

The military junta has alleged that the attack was carried out by local People's Defense Force (PDF) groups, claiming they acted under the instigation of the National Unity Government (NUG) and the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH).
