While her son and global supporters culminated a “Proof of Life” campaign to demand the military leader who jailed Aung San Suu Kyi, to provide independent verification that she is alive.

But instead of meeting this simple demand, Min Aung Hlaing wrapped up his five-day visit to China—cementing Beijing’s pivot from the ousted democratic government to military regime in Naypyidaw.
