At least five homes were damaged in Ponna Kyunt a town 20 miles north of the Rakhine State capital of Sittwe, during military junta airstrikes on Friday morning. The area is currently controlled by the Arakan Army (AA).
Two junta jet fighters reportedly dropped 200-pound and 300-pound bombs on the Sanpya ward at approximately 9:00 AM. While the attack damaged multiple civilian properties, no casualties were reported.
"They dropped two bombs directly on Sanpya ward," said Ko Pyae Phyo Naing, chairman of the Ponna Kyunt Youth Association (PYA). "Between three and five houses were damaged, but fortunately, everyone is safe and no one was hurt."

The PYA issued a statement strongly condemning the military for targeting civilian neighborhoods instead of valid military objectives. Speaking on behalf of the Arakanese population, the association urged the international community to take immediate action against the Myanmar military for committing war crimes and crimes against humanity.
This incident follows a larger assault on April 19, when three Myanmar Air Force jet fighters dropped 11 bombs weighing between 200 and 500 pounds on Ponna Kyunt and nearby Yephyukan village. That previous attack damaged roughly 10 homes, an electricity substation, a secondary school, and sections of a local highway.

The AA has reiterated warnings for residents to remain highly vigilant, stating that the military junta is deliberately conducting retaliatory aerial bombardments on towns and villages liberated by AA forces across Rakhine State.
