A military regime officer has died after falling from a gyrocopter during a training exercise at the Son Kone Artillery Battalion (Battalion 905) in Padan Town, Ngape Township, Magway Region. The incident occurred near the active conflict zone of Nat Yay Kan.

According to a source close to the military, training operations utilizing five newly acquired gyrocopters began at Battalion 905 on October 11. Four days later, on October 15, a Second Lieutenant fell from one of the aircraft during a test flight and sustained fatal injuries.

"They were conducting test flights on the evening of the 15th when a Second Lieutenant fell and died during the operation," the source stated.

While the gyrocopters avoid Nat Yay Kan Mountain, a strategic air defense site on the Rakhine Yoma range, they regularly operate over western Mindon, as well as the villages and forested areas surrounding Padan Town.

Ground sources note that the military is also conducting bombing operations in the area using Y-12 aircraft, fighter jets, and powered parachutes.

Commenting on the incident, a local source remarked, "They are training to launch attacks against civilians. Now that he has died first, one could say it is a matter of karma—reaping what you sow." While the name and hometown of the deceased officer have not yet been verified, local sources firmly confirmed the casualty to Narinjara.

Ground reports indicate significant military reinforcement at the Son Kone 905 Base, including the construction of a new helipad and the deployment of additional gyrocopters, heavy artillery, tanks, and armored vehicles. Furthermore, the No. 14 Military Operations Command (MOC-14) has received a substantial influx of weaponry and ammunition.

Despite these reinforcements and repeated offensives targeting Nat Yay Kan, which currently remains under an Arakan Army (AA) blockade, regime forces have reportedly failed to advance past the Gut Gyi and Pa Zi areas for the past two years.

Instead, the reinforced troops continue to face persistent threats from AA drones and snipers, with local military sources reporting daily casualties and destruction from heavy weapons attacks.
