Arakkha Health Department Urges Public Not to Graze Livestock in Air-Strikes-Targeted Areas

The Arakkha Health Department issued an advisory yesterday, August 25, urging the public in Arakan to avoid consuming fruits and food items gathered near areas targeted by fascist military airstrikes, and to refrain from letting livestock such as cattle, goats, pigs, and poultry graze in bombed locations.

The statement noted that the fascist military council forces continue to conduct daily airstrikes and heavy artillery shelling. Due to the rainy season, chemical residues from unexploded or detonated bombs spread into the surrounding environment via rainwater, creating explosive toxin hazards.

While there were no previous reports of livestock deaths in air-strike zones, recent incidents in Rathedaung Township revealed that cattle left to graze in and around military-targeted locations died one after another without any other identifiable cause.

The Department of Forensic Medicine under the Arakkha Health Department has marked these cattle deaths as unusual and suspicious events. They are currently conducting a detailed investigation and will issue a follow-up announcement once the cause of death is determined.

The Arakkha Health Department also urges local residents to immediately report any similar deaths of cattle or other livestock to nearby administrative authorities or DLEPS offices.
