Fierce clashes erupted in Indaw Township, Sagaing Region, after the Arakan Army and allied revolutionary forces ambushed two advancing military junta columns, according to military sources.
Revolutionary forces intercepted a 200-strong junta column advancing into Indaw Township near Kanni Village.
“The military regime launched an offensive using two columns with significant troop strength,” a military source told DMG. “Severe fighting is currently ongoing.”
Clashes that began on October 5 continue to rage intensely in the area.
Military sources report heavy junta casualties during operations conducted by the Arakan Army and allied forces.
“The regime sustained heavy casualties because our forces engaged them with FPV strike drones,” another military source said. “Since fighting remains ongoing, exact fatality figures cannot be confirmed yet. Junta troops are currently positioned near Nat Mahote Gyi Village.”
Earlier on May 13, the Arakan Army and allied resistance forces captured a junta base stationed in Nat Mahote Kalay Village, Indaw Township.
Across Sagaing Region, intense ground battles continue between junta troops and allied resistance forces, including the Kachin Independence Army and Arakan Army, with the military regime escalating aerial strikes in response.
Military sources indicate ground fighting will likely intensify further as additional junta reinforcement columns advance from Katha Town toward the battle area.
Due to the heavy fighting, numerous residents from Kanni, Lelnawng, and Thanbo villages in Indaw Township have fled to safe zones, where they face urgent shortages of shelter, food supplies, and medicine.
