Announcing the Establishment of Myanmar Global Media (MGM)

A new independent media organization, Myanmar Global Media (MGM), has officially launched.

According to an introduction by its founders, MGM brings together a team of experts with extensive experience across journalism, documentary filmmaking, digital technology, research, and civil society.

The organization was founded by Ma Ingyin Naing, a veteran multimedia journalist with over 20 years of experience at Voice of America (VOA) and Radio Free Asia (RFA).

Key co-founders and participants include Ko Pao, a filmmaker, screenwriter, and activist director; Ko Moe Zaw Aung, a digital editor and technical expert formerly with VOA Myanmar; Nang Lang, a news presenter with more than 10 years of experience at VOA Myanmar; and Ko Yan Naing, a broadcast news producer and presenter with over 20 years of experience at VOA Myanmar.

While the founding team includes several other prominent journalists and industry experts, their names, personal details, and specific roles are currently being withheld from the public due to ongoing security concerns in Myanmar.

MGM aims to deliver verified, balanced, and comprehensive news to local audiences inside Myanmar while bridging the gap between the Burmese diaspora and global policymakers.

As part of its launch, MGM has announced a strategic partnership with Federal FM, a media organization based in the Karenni region. The two outlets will collaborate on news presentations, interviews, and joint broadcasting programs.

This partnership is designed to amplify reliable, local reporting from the Karenni region to audiences across Myanmar, as well as to international observers and Burmese communities abroad.

The announcement explicitly notes that Myanmar Global Media (MGM) is an entirely independent news organization. It maintains no formal connections to, endorsements from, or representation of VOA, RFA, or the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), regardless of its founders' past affiliations.
