Amyotha Hluttaw elects Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye as Vice President

The second day of the group of elected Amyotha Hluttaw representatives meeting was held on March 31 and Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker U Aung Lin Dwe announced that Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye has been elected as Vice President by the Amyotha Hluttaw.

The group of elected Amyotha Hluttaw representatives nominated Dr. Tu Ja and Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye as Vice President candidates. Since there were two vice-presidential candidates, the selection was conducted using secret ballots. Dr. Tu Ja received 38 votes and Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye received 117 votes in the secret ballot. After that, the Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker U Aung Linn Dwe will submit the name of the Vice President Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye elected by the group of elected Amyotha Hluttaw representatives to the Speaker of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw.

Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye, who was elected as Vice President by the group of elected Amyotha Hluttaw representatives, is also the Kayin State Chairperson of the Union Solidarity and Development Party. The three vice presidents elected by the group of elected Pyithu Hluttaw representatives, the group of elected Amyotha Hluttaw representatives and the military representatives will be submitted to the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, which will elect a president by vote among them.
