Seven patients, including an infant, were killed at a clinic in Sagaing Region’s Ngapayin village during airstrikes carried out by the Myanmar Air Force on Monday, according to residents in Butalin Township.
At least 15 others were injured. Butalin is located 23 miles (37 km) north of the Sagaing Region capital Monywa.
Butalin residents told DVB that all five of the seven killed were female patients at the clinic. Ngapayin village is located 5 miles (8 km) north of Butalin town, which is under regime control.
Rescue operations were unable to be carried out on March 30. Three more regime jets took off from neighboring Mandalay Region’s Tada-U and Meiktila Air Force bases to carry out another round of airstrikes later the same day, according to residents.
The People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Butalin reported that there was no fighting with regime forces in Ngapayin village when the airstrikes occurred.
Two Buddhist monks and a civilian were killed by airstrikes on Kanni Township’s Sulakone village during fighting between the resistance and the regime forces on March 20.
Kanni, located 38 miles (62 km) west of Butalin and 40 miles (64 km) north of Monywa, was seized by PDF and came under the administrative control of the National Unity Government (NUG) in 2023.
