Airstrikes Hit 10 Kawkareik Township Villages Over New Year

Junta airstrikes hit 10 villages in Karen State’s Kawkareik Township killing at least two villagers and injuring at least a further seven on 16 and 17 April 2025, during the traditional New Year holidays.

On 16 April, the final day of the traditional Myanmar Thingyan Water Festival that celebrates the beginning of the new year from 13 to 16 April, junta airstrikes hit seven villages in Kawakareik Township, Karen State.
