Advance voting carried out in accordance with the law: Election Commission

The Union Election Commission announced on January 2 that the casting advance votes, counting of advance votes, compiling of voter lists and announcing the results were carried out in accordance with the relevant Hluttaw election laws, rules and procedures. In the multi-party democratic general election started to be held on December 28, 2025, the advance voting was arranged in accordance with the provisions of the law to ensure that voters who have the right to vote at home and abroad do not lose their right to vote, which is a citizen’s right.
With the permission of the Union Government, the advance voting of those who are abroad was carried out by the relevant Myanmar embassies, permanent missions and consulates within the specified days, and the cast advance votes were sent to the Union Election Commission through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to the statement.
After that, the advance voting envelopes were opened and counted transparently on December 25, 2025, in the presence of political parties, Hluttaw candidates, election representatives, witnesses, and the public, the announcement said.
Furthermore, voters who are outside the respective townships with voting lists, such as military personnel and their families, students, trainees, detainees, and inpatients in hospitals, voted in advance at places arranged by the relevant department heads, and voters who are temporarily displaced voted in advance at the local and township election commission sub-committees on the dates specified by the commission, and the envelopes containing the voting slips they cast were returned to the relevant township election commission sub-committees, the statement said.
