The Arakan American Community (AAC) has issued a strong condemnation of the Myanmar Air Force's bombing of two boarding schools in Thayet Tabin village, Kyauktaw Township, Arakan State.
In an English-language statement dated September 13, the AAC called the attack a "war crime" and an "act of genocide." The air strike reportedly killed at least 20 students and injured 22 civilians, including other students. According to the AAC, this deliberate attack was "aimed at destroying the future of the Arakanese people."
In response to the tragedy, the AAC has made three key demands of the international community:
Immediate Investigation: The United Nations and its affiliated organizations should immediately investigate this crime and hold the Myanmar military regime accountable for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
