AA reports capturing three strategic junta outposts in Ayeyarwady Region’s Yekyi Township

The Arakan Army (AA) has captured three strategic military outposts from the Myanmar junta in Ayeyarwady Region’s Yekyi Township, according to a statement and photos released by the AA’s press office on June 27.

According to the statement, Arakan Army (AA) forces captured Point 288 on June 17, Point 188 on June 19, and Point 148 on June 21, following intense clashes with junta forces along the Rakhine-Ayeyarwady border.

The captures followed a series of offensives launched by a junta force of more than 400 soldiers drawn from the 344th Artillery Unit and a Pathein-based battalion.

Despite multiple attacks by the junta forces, the Arakan Army successfully repelled the advances using defensive counterattacks, ultimately seizing the three tactical positions one after another.

According to a press release, large quantities of enemy bodies, weapons, ammunition, and military equipment were seized during the capture of strategic military positions.

Of the ongoing clashes between the Arakan Army and the Myanmar military junta, the fighting along the Rakhine-Irrawaddy border has been the most intense in recent days.

The junta conducts daily bombings in a bid to enter Gwa Townshipin the Rakhine region, launching continuous land and sea penetrations that escalate daily combat.

Simultaneously, fierce battles are unfolding in Sittwe, around Kyaukphyu, the Rakhine-Magway border, the Rakhine-Bago border, and the border between Mindat and Kanpetlet in Chin State.

These heavy confrontations are taking place across all of the Arakan Army operating areas as the junta attempts to regain territory using human wave attacks.
