Intense combat is currently taking place in two areas of Kyaukphyu, affecting several Chinese projects worth billions of dollars, between the Myanmar military and the Arakan Army (AA). The AA has reportedly recaptured some areas that were previously taken by the junta forces from the AA.
The heavy combat is focused around Thaing Chaung and Min Pyin. A local source reports that the AA has effectively regained control over areas that were recently captured by the military.
“The junta armed forces have experienced more casualties during the ongoing conflict. The AA, which has been fighting since the initial capture, is now on the offensive. The junta troops are withdrawing from some areas," the source mentioned.
The conflict has escalated with jets carrying out bombings from the air, while the navy continuously fires heavy artillery. The AA has managed to reclaim territory, gaining an advantage in the conflict.
After the demolition of two villages that were briefly under military control, the AA has encountered reinforcement, artillery, and drones from the advancing junta military. The armed forces are increasing their actions to support troops retreating amidst heavy fighting.
