AA Kills 40 Junta Troops, Seizes Weapons and Bodies Near Major Chinese Projects in Kyaukphyu

NARINJARA, June 2, 2026

An Arakan Army (AA) military source has confirmed that approximately 40 Myanmar junta soldiers were killed and numerous others injured during recent clashes near Sane, a town in Kyaukphyu Township located close to major Chinese development projects.

The source provided photographic evidence showing that the AA seized more than 20 enemy bodies alongside a cache of weapons and ammunition.

Fierce fighting erupted between May 28 and May 30, 2026, after junta forces launched a massive ground offensive to capture Sane from the AA and expand their territorial control. The military regime supported its ground troops with airstrikes, drone operations, and naval artillery.

“During this battle, about 40 enemy soldiers were killed and many were injured," the AA military source stated. "The Arakan Army also recovered more than 20 enemy bodies and captured various pieces of ammunition.”

battlefield is located roughly five kilometers south of Made Island, a strategically vital area hosting China’s crude oil pipeline, gas pipeline, and oil tanker port.

According to the AA, the Myanmar military mobilized troops and hardware from the Taung Maw Gyi/Taung Maw U naval bases, which actively guard the Chinese megaprojects, before advancing into the Aye area to strike Sane.

To execute the offensive, the junta deployed more than 400 soldiers drawn from the 212th, 213th, and 219th Infantry Regiments under the 11th Light Infantry Division.

This joint force coordinated closely with naval assets and relied heavily on airstrikes launched from the Taung Maw military base.

The AA source added that their forces successfully repelled the advance using strategic counterattacks, ultimately forcing the defeated junta troops to retreat.
