AA Clears 67 M-14 Landmines Near Muslim Villages in Maungdaw

On July 25, the Arakan Army’s (AA) Mine Clearance Team successfully removed 67 M-14 landmines from roadsides in Maungdaw Township.

The landmines were discovered during a six-hour operation spanning from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The clearance took place along critical village access routes connecting the Muslim communities of Zula, Horitala, Italia, and Zaintila, according to an official media statement from the AA.

Local news sources, including APM, report that the explosives were planted by the former Burmese military Junta and militant groups.

operation follows a similar effort on July 4, where the AA disarmed 35 M-14 landmines previously planted by the military and armed militant factions, including ARSA and RSO, in the same township.

The Arakan Army is actively conducting ongoing sweeps to clear mines and abandoned munitions left by former regime forces and militant groups.

These operations are heavily focused on local roadways, forests, and mountainous regions throughout Maungdaw District.
