85 Chinese nationals detained in Muse over online gambling scams, equipment seized

A total of 85 Chinese nationals were arrested in Muse Township, northern Shan State, on March 20 for allegedly operating online gambling activities, with related equipment seized during the operation.


Based on reports from locals that online gambling operations were being carried out in Kaungmu Tong Ward, Taw Yawt Ward and Suan Saw Ward in Muse Township, security forces operating in the area of ​​ northern Shan State went to these areas on the morning of March 20 and conducted necessary investigations and searches simultaneously.


During the operation, 85 Chinese nationals in three buildings were arrested for engaging in online gambling in Kaungmu Tong Ward, along with 286 mobile phones, 30 computers, 28 laptops, 46 mobile phones and 18 computers used in online gambling in Taw Yawt Ward, 85 mobile phones and 10 computers used in online gambling in Suan Saw Ward.


In addition, security forces conducting area security operations near Kaung San Village, Laihka Township, southern Shan State, on the evening of March 20, about 3,000 meters west of the village, two buildings measuring 130 feet long and 50 feet wide, three residential buildings measuring 90 feet long and 30 feet wide, three residential buildings measuring 60 feet long and 30 feet wide, a warehouse measuring 150 feet long and 50 feet wide, a building measuring 180 feet long and 60 feet wide, 10 Starlink devices, 55 all in one computers, 10 power stations and related equipment were also found and seized.


The arrested perpetrators of online gambling fraud and the seized related materials will be dealt with in accordance with the procedures.


The state continues to carry out anti-online gambling fraud activities in cooperation with neighboring countries, regional countries, and international organizations to eliminate online gambling fraud and prevent it from establishing itself in Myanmar.


In addition, Myanmar is taking seriously the fight against online fraud and online gambling, which pose a threat to the international and global community, as a national responsibility, and is coordinating with local forces and neighboring governments to completely eliminate these crimes.
