Ministry of Information revoked three news agencies under Section 6(b) of the Printing and Publishing Enterprise Law, according to announcement.
The three news agencies that were revoked are U Ye Thwin Hein’s Myaelatt Athan, running under license, U Win Zaw Naing’s Red News Agency and U Zin Min Htet’s Asia Citizens news agencies. They have been terminated their news agency licenses since April 23 due to failure to comply with the provisions of sub-section (b) of the Printing and Publishing Enterprise Law, writing and publishing content that affects national security, rule of law and public peace, according to a statement.
Upon receipt of a report with strong evidence that a publication suspected to be in violation of Section 8 of the Ministry of Information’s Printing and Publishing Enterprise Law, or under own investigation, news agency license may be revoked or suspended for a limited period of time after being checked according to the specification and found to be defective.Therefore, news agencies have been notified not to publish or broadcast any news using any type of media or any technology.
