The Arakan Army (AA) fighters have killed at least 10 junta soldiers and captured some others in a fierce fighting taking place in Kyaukphyu township of Rakhine State.

According to a ground military source, the AA fighters intercepted a military column advancing from Tai Chaung village on 31 March and promptly ambushed the junta soldiers.

"The attack took place between Tai Chaung and Pyay Chuen Creek," added the source.

The junta forces frequently advance into the AA-controlled areas. However, the AA usually maintains silence with constant surveillance. The last encounter was prompt and powerful, said a local resident.

After a week of silence, the AA fighters hit back in Kyaukphyu, which houses several major Chinese projects. The gunfire started on 31 March and still continues.

The junta troops are currently conducting both operations and patrols near the Kyaukphyu Thaingchaung dam.

Despite the military junta's reliance on air and naval support as well as the use of drones and modern weaponry, the soldiers continue to fight losing battles. In many encounters, the soldiers faced defeats to the AA fighters in different tactics on the ground.
