The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) reported that junta forces opened fire on a nine-vehicle convoy carrying aid supplies from the Chinese Red Cross Society for Myanmar earthquake victims near Ummati village, Nawnghkio township, at around 9:21 pm on 1 April.
The convoy was heading to Mandalay, had reportedly notified the junta before departure, but was still attacked.
Following the attack, the convoy retreated to Nawnghkio town. The TNLA stated that the convoy will continue its journey and is currently under their protection.
Attempts to contact junta spokesperson Maj. General Zaw Min Htun for comment on the incident have not received any response.
