Military junta launches 64 airstrikes in one week, killing at least 91 civilians nationwide

Between 7 and 13 May, Myanmar’s military junta carried out 64 airstrikes across 26 townships, killing at least 91 civilians and injuring 227 others, according to data verified by Mizzima. The actual number of casualties is believed to be higher, as ground reports remain incomplete.


The deadliest attack occurred on 12 May, when a school in Ohtein Dwin (North) village, Depayin Township, Sagaing Region, was hit, resulting in 24 deaths.


Three other major incidents that week also saw high civilian casualties. On 13 May, a junta airstrike on Tun Ra Wai (Old) village in Rathedaung Township, an area under the control of the Arakan Army (AA), killed 13 people. Earlier, on 10 May, an airstrike on Ywardawkone village in Wetlet Township, also in Sagaing Region, killed 10 civilians. On 8 May, Taunglaylone Monastery in Bhamo Township, Kachin State sheltering displaced civilians was bombed, killing 15.
