Moe San Suu Kyi, the daughter of the political prisoner Rakhine Chief Minister U Nyi Pu, was re-arrested by the military council at the entrance of Tharyarwady Prison after she was released after serving her prison sentence. She was then charged with violating Section 52(a) of the Terrorism Act, according to a member of her family who spoke to Narinjara News.

"Following a prison sentence, she was freed from jail. The police immediately removed her from the jail after she was given a discharge certificate by the facility. Another police officer arrived and informed her that they had a question for her before arresting her for another offense and returning her to jail.”

The military council sentenced Moe San Suu Kyi to six years in prison for violating Section 17(1) of the Unlawful Association Act and Section 505(a) of the State Sedition Act.

After serving her sentence, she was released from Tharyarwady Prison on August 7.
