Earthquake Kills Two Children in Pinlaung Township, Shan State

The deadly 28 March 2025 earthquake that struck Sagaing Region also hit southern Shan State and killed two children in Pinlaung Township and left residents of the township requiring aid.

Nangpang Village lies about eight miles southwest of Pinlaung Town in southern Shan State. The earthquake killed two children in the village, one a three-year-old and the other an eight-year-old. It also destroyed 100 of the village’s 150 houses. The villagers are in desperate need of water, medicine, and other assistance and no aid from the authorities or relief organisations has reached the village yet according to a villager who spoke to Shan Herald.
