A Myanmar delegation led by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs U Hau Khan Sum attended the ASEAN Summit and related Summits held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and discussed and pointed out the issue of discrimination against Myanmar which could harm ASEAN unity.


The Myanmar delegation attended the opening ceremony of the 47th ASEAN Summit and related Summits held on October 26, the ASEAN Awards Ceremony, the signing ceremony of the Declaration on Timor-Leste’s Accession to ASEAN, the 47th ASEAN Summit (Plenary), the 13th ASEAN-US Summit, the 28th ASEAN-Japan Summit, the 22nd ASEAN-India Summit, and the 47th ASEAN Summit (exclusive).

The meetings exchanged views on matters related to the establishment of the ASEAN Community, the review of ASEAN partnership relations, future cooperation plans, developments in Myanmar, as well as regional and international issues.


During the meetings, the leader of the Myanmar delegation discussed that in establishing the ASEAN Community, due to the interdependence of the three ASEAN Community pillars, it is necessary to strive for a resilient, innovative, and rapidly developing ASEAN Community.
