Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,366) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.


Since the coup, a total of (29,814) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,511) are currently in detention, (11,182) of whom are serving sentences.

These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.


During the past week, approximately (55) civilians were reportedly killed as the junta escalated its military operations in an apparent effort to facilitate a sham election. On 7 October, an aerial bombardment struck Man Hon village in Kyaukme Township, Shan State, resulting in the death of ten civilians, including one child. The following day, on October 8, a bomb attack took place on a school in Htin Chaung village, Mindat Township, Chin State, claiming the lives of four students. Likewise, on October 9, an airstrike was launched into Pyin Ma Pin Seik (West) village in Bilin Township, Mon State, killing five civilians, including children.


On the same date, an airstrike took place into Wel Bang village in Mongmit Township, Shan State and seven civilians were killed.
