On 4 January, Indian authorities released 26 Myanmar nationals from Sajiwa Central Jail in Imphal, Manipur, and transferred them to Myanmar junta officials in Tamu Township, Sagaing Region, via the Moreh border, according to the detainees’ families.

The released individuals included 19 weaving industry workers, five vendors, and two Rohingya refugees from Rakhine State.

A family member of one detainee said, “They have been released and are in a safe location. They will return home once they receive permission.”
